Remastered version of Turok coming out

I think that we can all agree that the Turok has to be the best FPS on the Nintendo 64 after the Goldeneye / Perfect Dark ‘series’. I don’t know about you, but I just love the way that has a different setting to anything else out there. It’s not a military campaign, not a spy game nor a sci-fi space mission.

Well it turns out that the chaps over at  Night Dive Studios are a company that works on buying the rights to old games and updates them for modern platforms. The big one that they started out with was System Shock 2, but they have done several other ones as well. The next step in their plans is to make a remake of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil.

Now, before you get too excited, I should let you know that this is going to be based off of the PC port of the game, rather than the Nintendo 64 version, probably due to it being easier to update to newer computers. This is also probably the reason why they won’t be a remake for Rage Wars or Shadow of Oblivion.

While they already did a PC remake of Shadowman (Another Acclaim title on the N64), I’m looking forward to what this will look like since I’m much more fond of Turok.
