This is a racing game, and one of the most impressive and ambitious games made by a homebrewer on the Nintendo 64. First of all, it’s a game made using 3D graphics. All the other game I’ve seen are in 2-D and the only 3D I’ve seen were basic demos.

As a racing game, you have to drive around a track. This time it’s in an aerial top-down view of a blue car on a red track surrounded by green grass. The objective of the game is to run laps around the track as quick as possible; a sort of time trials mode.

Most racing games don’t have gates labelled with ‘checkpoint’ on them, but this one does. Just to make sure you don’t run laps around the goal in circles. There’s even a checkpoint counter above the lap counter which loops back to 0 after 9 laps.

There are also a few debugging counters on the screen. The one at the very top alters between 6100 and 3000. I’m not too sure what it means, but it probably has to do with moving the camera. The second is the car speed, obviously. The third one I’m not too sure… I thought it might have something to do with the angle of the car/camera.

Then at the bottom you have your lap times. Top number is your current lap, middle is your previous, and bottom is your record time. After completing a lap, you have a ghost of your best lap to try and compete with.

MMR’s Cancellation

The text in the warehouse file explains the history behind MMR:

This game was supposed to be completed before its release but since I lost all sources, graphics, etc in a HD crash I might as well release what i have left which is an old beta. Please note that this game is full of bugs. This game is from way back I had troubles with the controller so please use controller #2. Enjoy!

And also explains why I should read the documents before recording and editing. I recorded the footage of the game and the realised that the input was only from controller #2 and had to redo the whole thing. Though I did get this strange occurrence during a two-frame glitch. Some of the HUD graphics disappeared and then were replaced with glitched text:

Overall about MMR

This is a fun, basic little racing game. It’s entertaining for about ten minutes to try and get the fastest lap possible, and the ghost car gives you some sense of urgency.

Count0 said this to be an incomplete game, so I really would have loved to see how this turned out had the assets not been lost.
