About Fallout Vault 64
This game is simpler than it might appear at first. The objective is to repair a computer in the corner of the room, and to do so you need to get spare parts. Where are the parts you may ask? Well in these deadly Deku-Baba-like spore plants of course. You need to cut them down and they’ll drop their spoils for you to pick up.

Once you collect all three, take them back to the computer to complete the game. It’s really as simple as that. There aren’t any other rooms, enemies or collectables so you can beat the game in less than a minute. You have five health points that you can lose if you stand around the enemies for too long.
There isn’t any music except for a short loop at the beginning. There is a tutorial page that explains what to do but Fallout Vault 64 is so straightforward that it’s pretty easy to pick up.

Review and conclusion
While Fallout Vault 64 is very simple, there are a few aspects that I think really stand out. I love the graphics, it really does feel like you’re in a claustrophobic bunker. The models and animations for the player and the plants are great for a first game, though it would have been nice if the plants had an attack animation rather than just depleting health on a fixed schedule.
Other than that, the game does feel barren. There’s music in the menu, but it’s lacking throughout the game. Even some ambient sounds would have been nice, but some attack SFX would have really enhanced the mood.

From the name, I was expecting something like Fallout Shelter where you manage repairs around your vault, or at least explore through different sections of it. What ended up becoming Fallout Vault 64 looks like a cut-down version of a much more ambitious project that I hope I can see the end of one day.
