Plug ‘N’ Repair

Your laptops are failing! Keep them charged in Plug ‘N’ Repair, homebrew game by Dr. Ludos by plugging your controllers in and out. It was released on 02 Feb 2026 for the 2025 64brew Game Jam.

You can get the ROM from its download page by using the password plugitin. You can also get it from Drive or get the source on itch.io.

About Plug ‘N’ Repair

You run a laptop repair shop with a very quick turnaround time. So much so, that customers are bringing in their devices every few seconds to be fixed.

The objective of Plug ‘N’ Repair is to run a series of diagnostic and repair commands on the laptops that come in, but you only have one charger to share between all of them. You have to keep an eye out for the battery level and repair percentage of each device to make sure that none of them gets powered off during a repair.

To do this, you need to plug a controller into the appropriate controller port. That’s right, this is one of those think-out-of-the-box kind of games. You don’t have to press any button at all, it’s all done at the N64 console itself.

Once you plug in a controller into the port, the laptop starts charging. Keep it until it’s full, and then move on to the next one. Sometimes a laptop will have to go through a few charging cycles before getting repaired.

It’s all a matter of managing resources. Since switching the charger takes some time to do, you really need to make the decision on whether to switch up and incur some downtime or keep charging and risk the other laptop going bust.

There are many different types of problems to fix, each of which has its own fix duration and battery drain. Beware of the RAM fix, it’s a tough one!

This is an arcade-style game so it just keeps going until you lose, aiming for a high score.

Review and conclusion

I must admire the simplicity in this game, it literally only has one control input and it makes you feel like you’re literally plugging in laptops, it’s kind of surreal.

I do find it kind of bizarre that two games in this game jam came up with this concept of physically plugging and unplugging controllers as part of the gameplay, the other being Console Clash of course. I think I prefer this one since the controls are simpler, you can focus on the ports and not have to switch between them and the controller.

The graphics are simple and cute and the music is catchy, but nothing truly out of this world. It puts you into the feel of running a repair shop in the 90’s this is the kind of thing you’d be listening to. The only complaint about this is that the controller port you need to plug into becomes a bit confusing. This is because the PCs on screen are on a 2×2 grid, but the N64 has the ports on a horizontal row.

Overall Plug ‘N’ Repair is a fun little arcade game with an interesting premise. Unfortunately I do feel bad for my poor poor paint job on my N64’s controller port wearing out the more I play this game.
