About Wrench Wrangle

Wrench Wrangle is a 4-player free for all strategy game where you have to get as many people as possible to visit your repair shop.

There are four stages to choose from, and each one has a different arrangement of four people spawners, four target shops and a varied configuration of walls. You need to get people to move towards your repair shop, and to do that you place sign tiles on the floor to direct them to where they need to go. They will then move in a straight line until they hit a shop, obstacle, or another tile.

The key is to create a path that captures as many of your hapless victims customers and moves them towards your shop. You can place as many arrows as you’d like, as fast as you can move your cursor around, but your opponents can overwrite them just as easily. Remember that your opponents can overwrite your tiles so an elaborate path can be hijacked in an instant.

At the end of the three-minute round, customers are tallied up and the winner is whoever had the most.

All credit for Wrench Wrangle goes to Fazana, with some use of SFX from a library, as noted in a fairly humorous credits screen.

Review and conclusion

It was a bit hard to get this game started since it crashed quite a lot upon starting a match, but I eventually managed to make my way through to all the maps.

The game design is fun, I always love a strategy game since they’re one of the most difficult to execute so you don’t see them often. It’s fun to try and get all the stray peeps corralled into your precious pen by considering every possible route they might take. Creating an elaborate path is a good challenge, and it is also just as fun to break someone else and steal all their visitors.

The AI is a bit lacking, they are very slow to place tiles and it seems to happen randomly so winning against them is just a matter of fixing whatever tiles of yours that they overwrite. If you want to have some real fun in Wrench Wrangle, you’ll have to get a few human players to compete against.

I recommend you to give this a try, but make sure to have at least one other human to play against if you want a bit of a challenge.
