SUGGOMA

An epic battle between champions! SUGGOMA (aka Someone2639’s Ultimate Gadget Game of Martial Arts) is a 2-player homebrew game by Someone2639 where you duke it out in an arena till only one is left standing. It was released on 02 Feb 2026 for the 2025 64brew game jam.

About SUGGOMA

SUGGOMA is a 2-player fighting game that operates in three dimensions. Each player moves freely along a checkerboarded flat square arena, and they can either jump or attack with a hammer. The trick is to time your attacks as you approach the opponent and quickly move away to avoid getting hit.

Each player has three phases of health: Cube, sphere and robot. Getting hit three times moves you on to the next stage, but receiving three hits as the robot makes you lose the game. That’s 9 health points for those of you counting at home.

Each time a player gets hit, they bounce wildly against the arena, which is quite hilarious if you ask me.

Review and conclusion

I must admit that I came into this game with a certain air of skepticism because I really didn’t like the previous game by Someone2639 in the 2021 game jam. I must say that this time I was delightfully surprised since it’s a game that works and is actually kind of fun to play.

It’s really one of those concepts like Space Invaders or Tetris that are a lot of fun for how simple they are. Attacking each other is fun, the frame rate is good (it should be for a game this basic) and knocking the other player around is satisfying and just looks hilarious.

It is missing something though. The graphics and animations are simple and there is no audio. This game could have done well with a bit of cartoon impact sounds added in.

SUGGOMA is simple and can keep you entertained for a little bit, but it relies on ahving a second player available and could do with a little bit more flair.
