Well done to Dextrose for producing the competition, and thanks to the various sponsors, who have all donated great prizes! Presence of Mind seems to be the only true n64 coding competition, others have tried and failed. Whatever happened with Summer64 and the sponsors, I guess I'll never know. So what do I have instore for your viewing pleasure? Its not LCARS'99... nor is it the demo that I planned to release for Pom'99. Around the middle of April I gave up on finishing my original demo idea in time for Pom'99, so I'll keep working on it, in readyness for Pom'2k maybe? I came up with the idea for pom-wtr.v64 a couple of days before Pom'99 and decided it was possible to put it together in the limited time left. Doing all the graphics, sounds, models, and code by myself takes time... I hope people understand the amount of work that goes into producing a demo for the N64. I'm proud to say pom-wtr.v64 is the fruits of my labour from the past few days, I've spent a long time debugging and getting things exactly how I want them to be. pom-wtr.v64 ----------- This is my Pom'99 entry. It's an interesting little utility, named "Analogue Test Utility" (or ATU). Still got no idea what it does, well... with this you can test your Nintendo 64 controller and see how hammered the analogue stick is. ATU uses complex formuli to calculate how the stick is feeling, or in laymans terms, how tight or loose the it is. Let's face it, well all love the Nintendo 64's controllers, but the analogue sticks begin to produce a "white powder", and loose their accuracy. This isn't a joke the complex formuli and stick analysis will indeed help you determine how stuffed your analogue stick is. I spend a fair few hours working on the the program, prefecting the interface, and formuli. Thanks go out to the four beta testers who helped with collecting controller tightness information on new and old controllers. UltraHLE users can run the program, but its usefulness to them is pretty much zero... only true N64 Sceners with backup units will find this useful. Feel free to try ATU is you are using UltraHLE though. How to use ATU -------------- The Directional Pad on controller 1 can control the menu options, A to go into the menu, B to move back out to the main menu. If left idle ATU will go into idle mode. There are also some hidden areas, or secrets which you can try to find.
